ANDAMAN ECO RESORT - ECOLOGICAL DESIGN, GREEN RESORT DESIGN, ENERGY EFFICIENT, SUSTAINABILITY, GREEN ARCHITECTURE

Megapode resort is a contemporary real time experimentation of tribal lifestyle. The main concept is to conserve the existing natural ecosystem. The design connects tribal community along with tourist retaining their cultural context and blends with the natural contours of the site. The incorporation of native plant breeds invites distinct species of migrative birds.

Despite heavy rains in Andaman, water scarcity is the major constrain. the core element of the design is a creation of a pond which serves as a rainwater reserve as well as sets the micro climate of the area where all spaces are oriented around.

Innovative techniques like water turbines are used to generate electricity using the speed of moving water in a natural way.Light ducts are used to incorporate natural lighting into the structure.Quite revolution wind turbines are used to generate electricity in an efficient way.  Earth air tunnel is a precooling technology used to cool the air by rejecting the heat to the ground. Solar chimneys are used to regulate the temperature of the building as well as to provide ventilation.

Locally available materials & construction techniques were implemented.

The main concepts are Dynamic nature & people's co-existence, Contemporary green living, Straight forward & innovative problem solving, Eco-synthesis connecting people.

Traditional cultural elements are incorporated in a modern way.
