a splash of colour is added to the walls to break the monotony and create a playful environment, the slender exposed concrete columns holding the bold mass creates a visual contrast to the white-painted walls.
SRI GAYATHRI MEDICAL MISSION RESEARCH FOUNDATION AND HOSPITAL, THIRUVERKADU is one such organisation which was started with a vision of creating “awareness in society that we as a part of the same humanity and together we can build a compassionate world”
At Thiruverkadu along the cooum coridor is where this unit of gayathri medical mission is situated, this is a location were there are many people from economically low category reside.
The hospital was envisioned and built to serve people who can't afford medical treatments. keeping this in mind hospital was built to make people from low economic category  feel comfortable .
Exposed concrete brick structure allows selective colours and texture options which helps with customizing the look. Low ,maintenance is required, other than sealing and occasional cleaning.
It is less expensive than other decorative techniques, resistant to heavy traffic and extreme weather conditions.
Rain water harvesting is done to conserve water.
single 120' curved wall is build which reduces heat absorption.
solar panels are used to conserve electricity.

Despite heavy rains in Andaman, water scarcity is the major constrain. the core element of the design is a creation of a pond which serves as a rainwater reserve as well as sets the micro climate of the area where all spaces are oriented around.
Innovative techniques like water turbines are used to generate electricity using the speed of moving water in a natural way.Light ducts are used to incorporate natural lighting into the structure.Quite revolution wind turbines are used to generate electricity in an efficient way.  Earth air tunnel is a precooling technology used to cool the air by rejecting the heat to the ground. Solar chimneys are used to regulate the temperature of the building as well as to provide ventilation.
Locally available materials & construction techniques were implemented.
The main concepts are Dynamic nature & people's co-existence, Contemporary green living, Straight forward & innovative problem solving, Eco-synthesis connecting people.
Traditional cultural elements are incorporated in a modern way.


Ramesh Residence, Palavakkam, Chennai
The main concept of “The Millennial House” - a residence accommodating three generations, their needs, aspirations and dreams and come up with architecture that is timeless. The site is located in a tightly packed urban neighbourhood of Chennai near the sea. Both the sides of the site have buildings and there is a park on the backside. Accommodating the needs of three generations in a tightly packed dense neighbourhood and very limited ventilation proved to be major design challenges. The architectural expression of how the building is to be conceived was also a challenge. To accommodate the three different generations in such a space, concepts of traditional house is incorporated into a modern context fulfilling all their preferences.
The traditional elements of houses such as thinnai, machi, anganum, and kollapuram were modernised into the front parking which is used as a multi-purpose space, youth interaction space, double height courtyards and rear side swimming pool. The space above the car parking  - a 20’ cantilever acts as the youth space. The youth space is a lively hangout spot for the young people inside the house. Fresh cool air flows from the front and back sides of the house and the used hot air escapes from the top of the house through the courtyards - thus creating Venturi effect, through which sufficient ventilation is achieved. The courtyards also act as a source of natural lighting throughout the day. The closed interior swimming pool acts as a private relaxing space helping the residents relax after work.The youth space contains a kund space with multiple seatings for many people which is the interaction space for the young people. It is also connected with the entrance which helps their friends to enter the house without disturbing the other people in the house. All the major spaces of the house overlook the courtyard which are also congregating space with seatings for multiple age people to interact.
The glass flooring in the first floor acts as a transitional space. When seen from below this space looks like a double height space while actually it is used as a floor. The dynamic form of the front elevation and the yellow pigmented concrete is perceived to bridge the time gap and create a structure that is timeless.
This house fosters interaction between the family members and enhances joint family living through the various social spaces like courtyards, thinnai space, kund space and terrace garden with seating. In this modern era of nuclear families, this house encourages joint family living.

An unexpected interesting session brushing up on basics, where we got to share and discuss perfection in representing architectural detailing and communicative understanding.

Why a steel in concrete?

What is a window?
How ? Where? Site making and fixing? What is a holdfast? Why it is there?where it is?

Sequences..of placing .. How do you  make a concrete slab? From a site perspective..
Why the steel is at a certain height in a beam? Not at the bottom.. Why concrete?
Top surfaces of any concreting..practical ways doing.. what is shuttering?? How do you finish a floor?

How do you message a client? Who messages in the night in the group? Can a junior. Architect dare to reply? If so,how?
How do you handle contractor? How do you team with the big gang in the architecture team?
If junior architect is the catalyst who facilities the faster musical movement of the architecture making, how can this be done??? Can a junior architects be the centre of the whole construction process? If so, do they have the necessary knowledge to handle it?


They are just a tool, drafting arm  to make staircase drawings, toilet drawings.. or some details blow up person.. How can they be at the centre with limited practical  knowledge yet at the same time  make a soft pivot friendly role to push the whole big machinery of drawings production sequence move?

How to interact with all consultants? Structural, plumbing, electrical, security.. is it possible.. if possible , how ????? Should you be a perfectionist?
A casual person... What are the angers of a client?
How do you put your best effort in helping a project move without compromising the ideals and goals that you set in the beginning?? Should you lose hope?

லில்லி தாமஸ் இல்லம்
1. பல்லாவரத்தில் இராணுவ மைதானத்தின் அருகில் அமைந்துள்ள லில்லி தாமஸ் இல்லம் வழியில் வரும் வழிப்போக்கர்கள் பிரம்மிப்பை தாண்டி அவர்களை வரவேற்று, சோர்வு தனிக்கும் தோற்றத்தையும் செயல்பாட்டையும் கொண்டது
2. வீட்டின் தெற்கு வாசல் வரவேற்பை இயற்கையோடு கலந்து பின்னி சூரிய ஒளியை கொண்டாடுகிறது
3. மனித படைப்பான இரும்புக் குதிரைகளின் இருப்பிடம் மேற்கில் இடம்பெற்று தெற்கு வழி வாசல் இயற்கையை கொஞ்சி விளையாடி மனிதர்களை மகிழ்விக்கின்றது.
4. தாமரை மலர்கள் இயற்கையின் உண்மை அழகு என உணர்த்தும் வகையில் வீட்டின் முற்றத்தில் வீற்றுருக்கிறது.
5. வீட்டின் உட்புறத்துக்கு தாங்கலாக நுழைவுவாயில் அமைந்திருக்கிறது.
6. விஞ்ஞான வளர்ச்சியில் வீட்டில் அடைந்து போகின்ற இளைய சமுதாயத்தினருக்கு தமிழ் மரபின்படி ஆரோக்யமாக விளையாட குழந்தைகளுக்கு தக்க இடம் அமைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கின்றது. 
7. வீட்டின் முறையான குடும்ப அறையில் இருந்து முறைசாரா அந்நிய அறையும் பயனுள்ளதாக பிரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது .
8. வீட்டின் குடும்ப அறையின் இரட்டை உயர உச்சவரம்பு பிரமாண்ட தோற்றத்தை வழங்கி வருபவர்களை வரவேற்கின்றது 
9. குடும்ப அறையில் என்றும் அமைதியும் இனிமையும் வசிக்கும் வகையில் இனிய சாரல் நீரில் தங்க மீன்கள் தித்திக்கின்றது.
10. வடக்கில் சமையல் அறையை உட்புறமும் வெளிப்புறமுமாக பிரித்து இயற்கையோடு இணைத்து இருக்கின்றது
11. சமயலறையில் இருந்து குழந்தைகள் நீச்சல் குளத்தில் நீந்தி விளையாடுவதை வீட்டின் முதியவர்கள் மற்றும் பெற்றோர் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்து கண்காணிக்க உதவுகின்றது.
12. முதியோரின் காத்திருப்பு மற்றும் படுக்கை அரை இடைப்பட்ட தளத்தில் அமைந்து வீட்டின் மேல் மற்றும் கீழ் தளத்தில் இருபவர்களோடு எளிதில் உரையாடும் வண்ணம் இருக்கின்றது.
13. முதல் தளத்தில் உள்ள குழந்தைகள் அறையும் காத்திருப்பு பகுதியில் இருந்து குடும்ப அறையை பார்த்து உரையாடும் வகையில் உள்ளது.
14. மாடியின் முகப்பில் இருக்கும் உப்பரிகை இயற்கையின் கைவண்ணத்துடன் ஜொலிக்கிறது .
