ACESO Healthcare

LOCATION : Situated near seekinankuppakam, Swarnabhoomi,ECR road, 2km from paramankeni beach, tamil nadu

CLIENT: Mr. G R K Reddy

MARG wellness healthcare centre initially constructed with a civil framework for an institution came to us with a challenge of developing into a  highly equipped eco-friendly multispeciality wellness retreat centre, comprising of five levels where the first 3 levels are dedicated to hospital services and the upper two levels for assisted living for elders further followed by a terrace garden.

Our approach went on to explore and produce a net zero building with the incorporation of biophilic design to provide a sustainable and human centric design converging to create environments that not only minimize environmental impact but also enhance the health, well-being, and connection to nature of their inhabitants.

The highly equipped wellness centre comprises of vast facilities as follows: hydrotherapy pool, specially designed and well equipped OT , multi faith room at each floor providing a diverse experience for the users, large exercise area with therapy cubicle ,vast space dedicated to physiotherapy amenities like badminton court at the rear side, beautifully designed and as the day unfolds, the terrace garden transforms into a vibrant oasis of life and activity.

  • Natural Light and Views: Ample daylighting and panoramic views of nature enhance indoor environments, fostering a sense of openness and connection to the outdoors.
  • Living Systems Integration: Green roofs, living walls, and indoor plants introduce vegetation into urban settings, improving air quality, reducing stress, and fostering biodiversity.
  • Natural Materials and Textures: Wood, stone, and other natural materials evoke a sense of warmth and authenticity, creating spaces that resonate with the natural world.

The frontal area is zoned with the access to hospital and emergency services, and the rear end with services , leisure activity spaces and a separate access to the assisted living with elders.

  • Patient-Centered Design: focuses on creating spaces that prioritize comfort, privacy, and dignity, empowering patients to participate actively in their care journey.
  • Biophilic Design : Drawing inspiration from nature, biophilic design seeks to incorporate natural elements such as daylight, greenery, and water features into the built environment, thereby, can reduce stress, promote healing, and improve overall well-being.
  • Wayfinding and Accessibility : Thoughtful wayfinding strategies, including clear signage, intuitive layouts, and accessible pathways have been incorporated to help reduce anxiety and ensure seamless navigation throughout the facility.

Assisted living for elders strives to create environments that prioritize the well-being, comfort, and dignity of aging individuals. By incorporating person-centered design principles, community spaces, supportive amenities, and technology, these facilities aim to foster a sense of belonging, independence, and fulfillment for residents as they age in place.

As we step into the terrace garden, we are greeted by a kaleidoscope of colors that dance in the gentle breeze. Lush greenery cascades from planters and trellises, forming a verdant tapestry that blankets the rooftop expanse.

In the bustling metropolis, a terrace garden stands as a testament to the enduring power of nature to soothe the soul and uplift the spirit. Here, amid the verdant embrace of greenery and the tranquil whispers of the wind, we find sanctuary from the chaos of urban life, a haven of harmony and beauty where we can reconnect with the earth and rediscover the simple joys of being alive.

 Mr. Raghunathan residence at vallam

A Beautiful regional traditionalism infused modern house for Mr. Raghunathan & family at Vallam, Thanjavur, a town known for its temple architecture and its locally used construction materials, this city is the cradle for many arts and crafts over the years.

The roof of the house is a rendition of the vaulted construction of the Cholas and Maratha kings, Mostly in South Indian Temples. It's a predominant feature. The client’s respect for tradition equals our own and that healthy bond made these unique features possible.

The use of local materials such as stone, exposed brick, laterite, and other materials helps in reducing the cost of construction and makes the buildings more responsive to the climate, hence giving us a better atmosphere within the house.

The pleasant entry of the house is simple and functional. It welcomes us to an entry court where large gatherings happen. The gathering spaces are provided with built in seating features inspired from traditional tamil architecture. The courtyards in the house are designed for gathering and talking, keeping a continuous bond within the family as the good old times. The house features a double-height courtyard which gives a divine feel to the entire living. The skylight is positioned in such a manner that it does not invade the privacy within the house, yet illuminates all the spaces inside.

The ground floor uses random rubble stone walls. It is to show how we prefer to use the locally available materials in different and unique ways for each house depending on the availability of the material. In this case, the material is available within a 60km radius for the house which makes it convenient and feasible for construction.

The freedom from the clients always helps in elevating any design and this is no less. We have come to understand the family’s interests in tradition which helped us in creating a design fusing culture and Architecture into one and that benefits the house as a whole.

We conclude with the message, "Respect the tradition and culture of a house the same way we respect the culture and tradition of religion and various other things to bring out the best in your home."

 HOLIDAY HOMES - YERCAUD

"Exploring the Yercaud holiday home, a stunning fusion of steel and exposed brick walls, designed as a retreat for the Shivakumar and Yethish families. Spread across 15,000 sq ft amidst nature's embrace, this haven aims to dissolve the strains of hectic life, offering glimpses of tranquil surroundings.

The steel frames were designed to resist wind loads as the site offers updraft due to the contour. The house invites visitors through a shaded Thinnai acting as a welcome pavilion. A glass courtyard has been used to enclose the trees that were kept, giving users a visual component. The ground floor integrates elements like swimming pool, outdoor dining and barbeque space with the primary spaces surrounded by trees and landforms. This allows elders to easily access the recreational spaces surrounded by trees and landforms. The deck spaces promote dual function, projecting from the structure it offers view towards the surroundings combined with the ability to funnel wind into the structure. Major trees that were on the property were retained and had been employed as a design element. The structural steel was prefabricated and sought direct installation on site to accelerate building. The Abundant Stone Available on the Site resulted in elegant random rubble stone Masonry on retaining, compound, and stilt floor walls. Cut and fill strategy has been incorporated to allow the building to adapt to the terrain. This also confers to better views from site. The house has also sees the use of brick patterns along the staircase to generate movement along with many interesting features.
As the built structure evolves into a cherished home, heartfelt thanks to Mrs. and Mr. Shivakumar, Mrs. and Mr. Yethish, and their families for making this dream a reality.
