VALLALAR  - ETERNAL REVERIE SANCTUM

Thiruvarutprakasa Vallalār is very well noted by the verse "vādiya payirai kanda pothellam vādinen" (translates to: 'I wilted when seeing a wilted crop.") which evinces the 'great soul's' compassion towards everyone and everything, irrespective of how diminutive it might seem. His teachings stressed on the importance of compassion and he made sure that no one was suffering from hunger.

Our proposal for the competition - Vallar International centre at Vadalur made sure the design concurred with his compassionate nature and his benevolent teachings. The plan accommodates a Meditation centre, a Museum, a Knowledge centre, a Library,a Research and development centre and an auditorium. The design furthered upon the spaces with an importance to shed light on his teachings and to represent them in an experiential layer. The free flowing form of the overall structure with interweaving spaces reduced its rigidity and rather made it to be in harmony with nature. The overall planning of the site was developed and evolved with his teachings being the prime inspiration.

In this design process, we, MA - team discovered ourselves and each other. From dawn to dusk, our bonds and proposals , both emerged stronger. This project always stands close to our heart irrespective of the proposal not making it through, as we term it, a process of growth, that we discovered ourselves and each other in this journey and through his teachings.
